Fellow Phoenixes,

At 8.30 on Saturday 11 November a group of Phoenix Masters will accompany the Lord Mayor's flotilla from Westminster Bridge to just south of Tower Bridge, a distance of almost three miles. They will not be ensconced with the Lord Mayor on Gloriana but instead, our fearless captain, Nicholas Bull, will be rowing a cutter along with five other Phoenix oarsmen/women plus cox and honorary passenger. The cutter will, of course, be flying a flag with a Phoenix emblazoned on it! We should not underestimate the task that our brave matelots are undertaking - One hour of non-stop rowing on a cold and (usually) wet November day.

All incidental expenses will be borne by the rowers but I do not think it fair to let them cover the cost of the entry fee of £400 or the £250 cost of hiring the cutter. Two of us have already pledged to help fund the £650 outlay and we would be very grateful for any contributions, large or small, that members might care to make in support of this noble cause.
